Queens County Historical Society

The Queens County Historical Society was founded on August 26, 1929.  The purpose of the society
was as follows:

"To gather, preserve and disseminate data relating to the history of the County; to engage
in research for folklore, and tradition, and in collection of ballads and sea songs of long ago;
to prepare a museum in which objects of an earlier day shall be preserved; to establish
an historical library in which books, maps, old records and pictures shall be kept;
and in due time to open a reading room for the general public."

The society continues to work for the collection, preservation and display of documents and artifacts
that tell the story of Queens County's natural and human history.  The Historical Society welcomes new members from everywhere.  For a small annual membership fee, you may share in the work and achievements of the society.  You will be kept informed of current activities through a quarterly newsletter. Meetings:  Third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm, Queens County Museum
